New this week We will receive organic beets, baby bok choy, kale and shiitake and lion’s mane mushrooms this week. We are still harvesting arugula, collards, kale, and kaleidoscope lettuce and still have co-op turmeric available. Co-op Garden dried basil (Thai and Sweet) continues to be available as well. |

Recent Local Produce & Products We still have: organic apples, beets, carrots, kale, Covington, Murasaki & Garnet sweet potatoes, Lion’s Mane and shiitake mushrooms, Hawaiian and Indira turmeric, dried lemongrass,and chestnuts (NC – freezer). Blue Ridge Brinery: We have kvass, and all flavors of sauerkraut & hot kimchee in stock. Healthy Hen Farm: We have large eggs, dried eggs, local honey in stock Local Meats:We have local ground beef from Mile Creek Farm in the freezer. Rickety Barn Farm:We received whole chickens on 12/20. Roundtop Farm:We received fresh turmeric and lemongrass on 11/11. Organic sourdough bread:We received a delivery on 12/17 and have traditional & sandwich loaves in the freezer, as well as banana nut bread slices. |
Monthly Senior Discount Day The Co-Op offers a 5% discount to seniors 65+ on the 3rd Saturday of each month. The next senior discount day will be held on Saturday, January 18 Updated COVID-19 Reminders – Masks are optional for shoppers – We are still following recommended safety protocolsThe Pickens County community level is LOW. Based on the current CDC and SC DHEC guidelines, masks are optional for shoppers. Order Due Dates and Delivery Dates Online ordering calendar UNFI — We will receive a delivery on Thursday, January 2. The next order due date is Monday, January 6 for delivery on Wednesday, January 15. We receive orders every two weeks. Happy Cow — We will receive a delivery on Tuesday, December 31. Place orders by Saturday, January 11 for delivery on Tuesday, January 14. We receive orders every two weeks. Frontier Herbs — Next order due date is Tuesday, January 21. Recipes and Health Articles Oven Roasted Sweet Potatoes & Apples Servings: 8 Author: Beautiful Eats & Things Ingredients 3 sweet potatoes peeled & cut into cubes 1 red apple cored & sliced 1 green apple cored & sliced 2 tbsp neutral oil 2 tbsp honey 2 tsp cinnamon 3 sprigs of fresh thyme juice of 1 lemon 1/2 tsp course sea salt Instructions Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread sweet potatoes and apples on a baking sheet. Drizzle with Oil and honey. Sprinkle with cinnamon, thyme, and lemon juice. Toss with hands or a large spoon to make sure that all ingredients are distributed evenly. Sprinkle with sea salt. You can choose to add slices of lemon if desired. Place in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until sweet potatoes are tender. Switch to broil and broil on high for about 5-7 minutes. Enjoy!
