New CBD Oil Company

We are now carrying CBD oil from a SC company, Palmetto Harmony, located in Conway, SC. Visit www.palmettoharmony.com for more information about their products. Our next order will be placed on Monday, April 29th so please place special orders before that date.

 

Monthly Manager Meeting Saturday 4/27 at 9:00am

All are welcome to join us for the monthly manager meeting at the Co-op.

Co-op Spring Open House Saturday, June 1st

We will be holding an Open House on Saturday, June 1st from noon to 3:00pm at the Co-op. Please save the date. We will share more details soon!

2019 Membership Renewals

Memberships are due the first time you shop at the Co-op in 2019. The cost is still $24 for the entire year. Thank you for your continued support!

Honey Manager Needed
The Honey Manager works with local honey suppliers to stock the Co-op with bulk and packaged honey. The current manager, Tatiana Burtova, is leaving in June, so we will need to fill the position by May to ensure the new manager has an opportunity to train with Tatiana before she leaves. If you are interested or want to learn more please contact Theresa Pizzuto.

Assistant Manager Needed
Officer position – 0% markup

The Assistant Manager assists the General Manager and Associate Manager in management activities and decision-making, serves in the absence of the Assoc. Manager or General Manager as needed, attends Manager, General Membership and agenda-planning meetings and works to gain knowledge of all jobs, policies and procedures associated with the operation of the Co-op.  Good organizational, communication and computer skills are required, including basic knowledge of Word and Excel; familiarity with Google Docs, MailChimp and email lists is a plus. You will work closely with the the Associate & General Manager and we will provide training as needed. If you are interested or want to learn more please contact Theresa Pizzuto

Monthly Senior Discount Day

The Co-op offers a 5% discount to seniors 65+ on the 3rd Saturday of each month. The next senior discount day will be held on  Saturday, April 20th.

Order Deadlines and Delivery Dates

UNFI — The next delivery date is Thursday, May 2nd.

Happy Cow — The next order deadline is Saturday, April 27th, for a delivery on Monday, April 29th.
Sami’s Bread — A Sami’s order arrived on Thursday, February 28th.  Please check the freezer for Bagels and Bread.
Frontier Herbs — Orders due monthly on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

Produce Updates

Short-term Local Seasonal Produce (To special order please contact Theresa)
  • Organic (not certified) Asparagus (Monetta Asparagus Farm) – we will order asparagus weekly or every other week until the season ends in May.
  • Spray-free Strawberries (Mile Creek Farm): we we will continue receiving strawberries weekly as needed based on special orders (to reserve, please call co-op and leave a message with your name and quantity you would like or write order on sheet on counter by register)

Growing Greens Family Farms: we plan to order greens and other seasonal produce from them every 1-2 weeks. For more information, visit Growing Green Family Farm.  They are a local farm in Anderson, SC.

Cedar Knoll Farm: we will order seasonal produce (currently radishes and lettuce) as our shelf stock is depleted (weekly or every other week).

Albert’s Organics Produce Distributor: we will begin ordering from this regional wholesaler on a monthly basis. We will share the availability lists and special order instructions soon.

Sugar Free Blueberry Preserves

Ingredient:
3 cups
Xylitol
3 cups
blueberries, thoroughly cleaned
2 tablespoons
pectin
2 teaspoons
lemon juice
1 teaspoon
Xanthan Gum Powder
Directions:
  1. Combine all ingredients into a large pot.
  2. Place over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 15 minutes, or until berries have broken apart and mixture has thickened.
  3. Remove from heat, pour into glass jar, and allow to cool completely before placing lid onto jar.
  4. Keep refrigerated for up to 1 month and enjoy!
